Hey you know what?

Anyone remember that show "Super Human Samurai Cyber Squad"? and how the villain would scan in drawings of monsters, and then they had to fight those monsters? I think that shit would be awesome.

nothing right now.

still with the same shitty scanner, but now i can't seem to find my sketchbook :(

Keeping to a schedule.

Always in the back of my head, i never forget that i should update this thing. The trouble is, i don't know if I should make daily, or weekly updates. I have been a bit active, but i did scan some extra sketches in. I've been cleaning them up in photoshop to learn that my scanner sucks. And since i don't rip pages out of my sketchbook, scan quality suffers :[

Congestion
For either design or fooling around, i wanted to add, add and keep adding to something to see if i can reach a point where you know what to filter out. I wanted something really easy to see, and perhaps easy to organize, and disorientate you. Should i try this again, i'll take information from a chart and add this burst of shapes to it. I took my initials and added boxes coming out from it. i found a red pen and had at it. It adds a nice spice to it i think.

Cramp
So i fill with a whole lot of shit here. Not much to say about this really. I would really like to get better with using thick lines, especially since they don't erase easy. So building skill and confidence to pack as much information into a single stroke is a goal of mine, since i like to back up and reinforce my lines.

Girls

Drawn from references (mostly those gothic/punk pinup sites). Really hit or miss i feel, and between going over with marker and scanning it in, i think it loses a bit of something. Faces are a weak point of mine, they've always been, so i want to get a lot of practice in.

Girls:Detail
Here's a nice little detail from the last page. I like the face. I worked hard on it. That nice smile is rewarding. Still some minor imperfections i'll have to iron out, but I'm glad to start shaping up.

Samplers

Tonight for an update, i'd like to share something i keep drawing over and over again. These came of a series of really well designed posters for a band reunion show. each drawing had a different execution, and if i could find them again, i'll upload the original and credit it's designers. Those were some fun nights, and they were a bunch of jackasses setting up to the rocky theme.

Welcome to My Sketckbook Page.

I'm currently in the process of collecting my some scans from my sketchbook, which i'll present here for my future readers, allowing me to get criticism and show improvement on my work.

Here are a few to start with
old man

this started off as a simple sketch of some portrait shots from sxc.hu, eventually i found the old man and really, really like his expression. I started with his eyes, and went on from there. Ignore the goofy looking guy at the bottom, it was my first attempt, and you can see i didn't really get a feel out of him.

logo design idea

I've been playing with the idea of rain clouds like this for some time, to leave some sort of logo ready for ubiquity. From here i've refined and simplified some features, and i'll have a vector of it in some time. Done mostly with Pitt art pens and a marks-a-lot.

imaginative layout

This was a sketch done while listening to At the Drive-In and some .hopesfall. and this remains a bit of a work in progress. I've been looking for some interesting ways to challenge myself. This is an attempt to create a busy layout.

Prismacolors are a bit hard for me to get the hang of. Also, the scan quality isn't that great, but i don't have the time to commit to photoshopping and playing with levels right now. I don't think i've accomplished anything with this sketch, but i do know i think those Fuel Girls from TimeWarp are hot; not that i got their feature right or anything.

I'm not trying to exhaust myself right now, so i'll stop with this. I'll try and get updates like, twice or three times a week.
